Charlotte Russe

6 tsp. sugar
1 pt. milk
6 eggs
2 tbsp. gelatin
1 qt. heavy cream
Stir together and cook until a custard forms. Add 2 tablespoons gelatin, which has been dissolved in ½ cup milk. Whip 1 quart of heavy cream and add 1 tablespoon sugar. When custard is cool, add the cream and pour over lady fingers or broken pieces of sponge cake. Serve with red cherries on top.
