The Sam Houston Memorial Museum is part of Sam Houston State University and is dedicated to preserving the life and legacy of Sam Houston the Statesman, General in the Texas War of Independence, Former Governor of Tennessee, first President of the Republic of Texas, U.S. Senator and Governor of Texas. As a Friend of the Museum you will experience the largest single collection of Houston artifacts and memorabilia.

From field trips to workshops to opening night receptions, the Museum offers many benefits to its friends. Friends of the Museum receive a calendar of events so you can enjoy new exhibits at your leisure. Our gift shop offers a variety of Sam Houston, Texana and other gifts. You will receive discounts in our gift shop and others, as well as discounted or free tickets to our annual Folk Festival held each spring.
