Museum Events

We host a variety of events throughout the year, from exhibit openings to educational programs.  We would love to have you join us!  For up to date information on our events and programs, please follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram and X).

We host temporary exhibits in our exhibit gallery or atrium at the Katy & E. Don Walker, Sr. Education Center, located at 1402 19th Street.  These exhibits are open to the public during regular museum hours.  Below is the upcoming exhibits schedule:

March 3 - May 31, 2026 (exhibit gallery): Remembering You, David Adickes - Experience the legacy of renowned artist David Adickes.  Explore 36 paintings and 4 bronze sculptures that capture his unmistakable creativity and spirit.  All works are available for purchase through the duration of the exhibition.

May 1 - August 16, 2026 (atrium): Texas America250 - The exhibit highlights historically significant Texas Treasures from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, encouraging all Americans to explore the story of the Lone Star State over the past 250 years. 

June 16 - August 30, 2026 (exhibit gallery): Return of the Backroom CuriositiesAn exhibition of unique, unusual, and off-the-wall items from the museum's vault.

Sundown at Sam's

Each spring, we host a live music series on our beautiful grounds. Local musicians bring the outdoor stage alive with various musical styles, such as blues, country, gospel, and more!
